Have you ever dreamed about running away to a place where no one knew you? You could rewrite your past to be full of fun and beauty. The pages could be filled with your imagination.
Any shame, embarrassment, disappointment, or guilt felt about your decisions or actions against you could simply be erased.
I spent a few weeks thinking how I could pull it off. It would require a lot of attention to detail and determination (oh, and cash too), maybe more than I could conjure up. Never mind that the lies would eat away at me. Or that I would miss the good parts, like friends and family who really did love me, even if my emotions weren’t sure about that.
Unfortunately, your book cannot be rewritten, only a new chapter begun. Will you continue a story of brokenness or Re.define your life through healing?
It is easy to continue living hurt. Not because you are choosing pain, but because facing pain is hard. The words on your pages might tear you apart. The stories begin to consume you. Why reread them again and again? True healing cannot happen unless we reopen each chapter that we have not properly processed and invite Jesus to help us release the hurt to Him. Our story can’t change if we’re stuck in the details of the past.
It is time to take the pen back into your hand and stop allowing your wounds to write for you. What will your next chapter say?
Write God’s truth over yourself.
Write forgiveness, grace, and mercy.
Write His promises to you.
Write freedom.
He has already declared who you are in His word. I encourage you to explore the bible to discover the identity that He wrote for you. You are a child of the author of all life.
Invite Jesus to guide your hand, as you write the rest of your story together. I can’t wait to read it!
The future of Re.defined is focused on the future of you! We will explore the elements that make a great story and learn how to write our next chapters well. Comment a line or two that you have chosen to write over yourself as you redefine your story. One that I’ve been focused on lately says,
“You are a victorious spirit, finding strength in every situation. There is always victory in Jesus.”
